WMC Global and Telstra Renew Mobile Premium Services Compliance Assurance Contract

 

SYDNEY, 1 September 2011 – WMC Global has renewed its business relationship with Telstra, reinvigorating and extending an alliance whereby the world’s leading provider of digital confidence delivers compliance assurance to the carrier in the Australian mobile premium services (MPS) market. Before 2009, when WMC Global introduced comprehensive in-market monitoring and enforcement in Australia, mobile premium services were associated overwhelmingly with negative customer experiences due to widespread deceptive marketing practices. Such practices exposed carriers to consumer backlash as well as to potential civil, criminal, and regulatory action.

Telstra was one of the first major carriers in Australia to commit to purging the MPS industry of deceptive advertising and service messaging by forging a relationship with WMC Global. Two years later, the Australian MPS market has experienced a major drop in TIO complaints and significant improvement in MPS transparency and content provider compliance with the MPS Industry Code.
