Sprint Extends Its Relationship with WMC for In-Market Monitoring Services |
Tier 1 Wireless Carrier Increases Control of PSMS Activity on Its Network |
FAIRFAX, VA, January 1, 2009—Sprint has renewed its partnership, through 2009, with Wireless Media Consulting (WMC) for enhanced in-market monitoring support. Major improvements include monitoring of SMS “message flows” and WAP billing experiences to ensure all premium applications running over the Sprint network comply fully with the carrier’s standards and Mobile Marketing Association Consumer Best Practices. Using a complex set of tools and methodologies, WMC replicates handset interaction with premium wireless programs exactly as Sprint subscribers experience them.
SMS message flows are essentially text message communications between wireless content providers and Sprint subscribers during the sale of items such as chat programs or ringtones, text alerts, and games downloaded to the customer’s mobile handset. WAP billing is the process whereby all payment screens for wireless content are presented to the customer via the mobile Internet, rather than by PSMS. “With the launch of our latest cutting-edge tools for monitoring both SMS message flows associated with purchase of premium wireless content and WAP billing payment experiences,” said Robin Thompson, WMC’s vice president of business development, “Sprint continues to lead the marketplace in ensuring the safety of its subscribers in new market areas.”
